The Ridge, Mashobra: A Home in the Hills That Looks After Itself

Most people who dream of a home in the hills have the same worry. Who looks after it when you’re not there? Who fixes the leak in February, airs out the rooms before you arrive, and makes sure dinner isn’t an afterthought on your first night?

The Ridge is built around that question. And it answers it rather well.

The House of Abhinandan Lodha, better known as HoABL, has launched The Ridge in Mashobra, about 30 minutes from Shimla. It’s their first project in Himachal, and it’s a big step for them. Until now they’ve mostly been known for land. This time it’s finished villas, and there aren’t many of them.

Where it is, and why that matters

Mashobra has been a favourite hill escape for more than a century. The British loved it, and it’s easy to see why. It’s quiet, covered in deodar forest, and far enough from Shimla’s Mall Road crowds to feel like a different world. Even so, the town is close when you want it.

The Ridge sits on 11.5 acres overlooking the Gharshi Valley. Craignano Nature Park is about 3 km away, Wildflower Hall about 10 km, and Naldehra Golf Course about 13 km. Getting there is easier than you’d think. It’s around 3.5 hours by road from Chandigarh and about 7 from Delhi. If you’re in a hurry, a heli-taxi from Chandigarh gets you there in roughly 20 minutes.

The villas

You can choose between 3 and 4 BHK villas, sized at 3,008 sq.ft and 3,667 sq.ft. They’re spread over three floors and follow the natural slope of the ridge, so the valley is always in view. Each villa has its own lift, valley-facing balconies, ensuite bedrooms, a private master suite, a rear garden and private parking.

The part that makes it different

Owning a hill home usually means managing one. Here, you don’t have to. Everly Hotels & Resorts will run the place, and every villa gets a dedicated villa manager. Housekeeping, maintenance, a concierge, private chefs and a chauffeur are all available. You arrive, and the house is ready for you.

The clubhouse is over 25,000 sq.ft. It has a heated indoor pool, a restaurant, a fireside lounge, a fitness centre and a spa. HoABL has also put real thought into wellbeing. They’ve partnered with Evavo Wellness on a longevity centre that will offer cryotherapy, red-light therapy and hyperbaric oxygen sessions, along with a sauna, a cold plunge and a recovery area.

Outside, there are orchards, canopy walks, viewing decks, fire pits, picnic meadows and spots set aside for stargazing. It’s the kind of place where an evening walk becomes the best part of your day.

The practical bits

The project is registered with Himachal RERA under the name Bohemian Chateaus (RERAHPSHP04180029). Possession is planned for September 2030.
