SPR Elevated Road: Good News for Gurugram's Southern Belt

If you've driven on the Southern Peripheral Road during peak hours, you know how bad it gets. That stretch is about to change.

GMDA is going ahead with an elevated road on SPR, running roughly 4.2 km from NH48 to Vatika Chowk. It will be a four-lane elevated road linking Dwarka Expressway and the Delhi–Jaipur highway with the Gurugram–Sohna highway. Underneath it, SPR will keep a three-lane main carriageway, plus two-lane service roads on each side.

What does that mean day to day? Through traffic goes overhead, and local traffic gets room to breathe at ground level. At Vatika Chowk, a cloverleaf interchange is planned to connect the new road with the elevated section of the Sohna highway. The result is a smoother, more signal-free route between Dwarka Expressway, NH48 and Sohna Road.

Here's where things stand. Last month, GMDA submitted tender documents worth about ₹775 crore to the Haryana government, and a committee set up by the Chief Minister is reviewing them. An earlier tender was cancelled because of gaps in the project report. GMDA's chief engineer has said the tender will go out as soon as the government approves it. The plan is to finish within 30 months of awarding the contract.

There's more on the way. An elevated road is also planned on Golf Course Extension Road to connect Gurugram–Faridabad Road with the Sohna highway, and its project report is being prepared.

For homeowners and investors along SPR, this matters. Better connectivity usually brings stronger demand, both from people buying to live and from tenants. Timelines in infrastructure can slip, so we'll keep a close eye on the tender stage. But the direction is clear, and it's a positive one.
